Our Process
It’s Natural& Washed
Natural processing refers to a dry process where the fruit of the coffee bean stays on the bean drying undisturbed. These ‘cherries’ are harvested at the peak of ripeness. Spread in thin layers, they dry naturally in the sun being turned often to avoid fermentation, molding, or rotting.
Washed is a wet method of processing beans. This is a different approach to Natural where the flesh of the fruit is removed entirely before the bean dries. The ripe coffee cherries are harvest, then soaked in a freshwater tank for 24-72 hours. From there, they are sent through a de-pulper machine that removes the flesh partys of the fruit. Once they are washed, they are spread thin to dry naturally under the sun or by machine.
